Frequently asked
Fish ID says the wrong species. What now?
Tap the ranked alternatives shown under the top result — the model returns up to three candidates. If none is right, snap a second photo from a different angle (side profile with the head visible works best). We do not fine‑tune from your photo; you stay in control.
My catches disappeared.
Catches are saved to your device first, so they persist even if you're offline. If you haven't linked an email in Settings, they never leave the device — a reinstall wipes them. Link an email once and future catches are backed up automatically.
The map is empty for my region.
CatchMap ships bundled water‑body data for many countries and lazy‑loads the rest. If yours looks thin, please write to us with the country/region and we will prioritise the next data pull. The dataset is refreshed regularly.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are billed by Apple. Open the App Store, tap your profile picture, then Subscriptions, and cancel from there. You keep Pro access until the end of the current billing period.
How do I request a refund?
Apple handles all refunds. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com and select the CatchMap purchase.
Delete my account and all my data.
Open Settings → Account → Delete account in the app. Your synced catches, photos, profile and email login are removed immediately. Catches that were never synced live only on your device; Sign out clears them too. Can't open the app? Write to support@catchmap.app.
Location permission — what does the app actually do?
CatchMap uses While Using location only, and only to centre the map on you and to attach coordinates to a catch you log. Never in the background. Deny it any time and the map simply opens on a country‑scale fallback.
Which languages does the app speak?
English, Türkçe, Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano, Português, 日本語, 한국어, 中文. Switch in Settings → Language.
Technical requirements
- iPhone or iPad running iOS 17 or newer.
- Camera access (for Fish ID) and location (for the map) are optional — the app runs without them, just with less magic.
- Network is required for AI Fish ID and for cloud sync; the map and journal work offline.
